Your Website Is Costing You Jobs: 7 Fixes for Painting & Epoxy Pros

Most painting and epoxy contractor websites look fine on a laptop — but homeowners are searching on their phones. If your site is slow, hard to navigate, or missing the right trust signals, you’re losing jobs to competitors who got those basics right.

In this workshop, Matt walks through the 7 specific website fixes that turn a brochure site into one that actually books estimates. These are the same changes we make for every Sharp Line Foundation client.

Fix 1–2: Make the First 3 Seconds Count

Your site has 3 seconds to load on a phone before the homeowner leaves — and they’re not coming back. Google tracks that bounce. When visitors land and leave without calling, your rankings drop and your pipeline gets thinner.

The two fixes: compress your images and optimize any video so the page loads fast on mobile. Then make sure the layout is actually built for a phone — not a desktop site squeezed down to fit. When a site goes from 6–7 seconds to 2–3, the same traffic produces more calls.

Fix 3–5: Make Calling You Frictionless

Most contractors bury their phone number in the footer or only put it on the contact page. The homeowner is on your site, ready to call — if they can’t find the number in a second, they leave.

Three fixes here: lock your phone number to the top of the screen so it scrolls with the visitor. Pick one main call to action — “Get a Free Estimate” or “Call Now” — and stick with it everywhere. And cut your contact form down to 3–4 fields: name, phone, what you need. Every extra field costs you leads.

Fix 6–7: Earn Trust Before They Ever Call

Painting and epoxy work is a big purchase. Homeowners are letting a stranger into their house and paying deposits upfront. They’ve heard horror stories. If your site isn’t building trust before they pick up the phone, you’re losing calls.

Two fixes: put real proof on the page — your team, your truck, real before/after photos from jobs you’ve done, embedded Google reviews, your license number. Not stock photos. Then build a page for each town you work in and each service you offer. When a homeowner sees their specific town named on your site, you stop being another generic link on Google and start looking like a neighbor.

The Results When You Get This Right

One of our epoxy clients here in Arizona pulled in 43 leads in a single month after we rebuilt their site with these fixes in place — that turned into $82,000 in booked jobs. Same market, same services. The website was the difference.
