Speed-to-Lead: The Marketing Automation Playbook for Painting & Epoxy Pros

The Fastest Reply Wins the Job, Not the Best Ranking

Our garage door spring broke a while back and trapped the car inside. So I did what everybody does. Pulled up Google, searched garage door repair, and started calling the top three results in the map pack.

Two of them didn’t pick up. I wasn’t about to leave a voicemail, I needed the thing fixed that day. The third one answered and told me they were booked out until the following week.

That’s the top three businesses in my area, gone. Best reviews, most reviews, paying for ads. None of it mattered.

So I kept scrolling. Somewhere down on page two I found a company that picked up, walked me through exactly what would happen and when, and had a guy at my house that afternoon. They got my money, and they were nowhere near the top of Google.

Homeowners do the same thing to painters

By the time somebody requests a paint quote, they’re past the research stage. They already know they want it done. Now they just want to know what it costs and when you can start.

So they sit down with their phone and request quotes from three or four companies in one sitting. Within a couple of hours they’re booking estimates. If the lead comes in at 10am while you’re spraying and you call back at lunch, the calendar is already full.

That’s not a knock on how you run your crew. You can’t answer a phone with a sprayer in your hand. But somebody has to answer, and it doesn’t have to be you.

What we covered in the workshop

We ran a short workshop on this called Speed-to-Lead: The Marketing Automation Playbook. It walks through the setup that keeps the conversation moving while you keep working:

  • What should happen in the first sixty seconds after a lead comes in, whether it’s a missed call or a form fill
  • What that first text needs to say, and why one good question moves the job further than a paragraph does
  • How to get from that first reply to a booked estimate without playing phone tag
  • The follow-up that keeps a quiet lead alive after you’ve moved on to the next job

There are real examples in there for both painting and epoxy, plus how one client we’ve worked with for a couple of years pulled 43 leads and $82,000 in closed work in a single month with this running behind the scenes.

Who this is for

If the phone already rings and you’re losing those leads to whoever answered first, it’s worth the time.

If you’re not getting many leads yet, skip it for now. Put that time into yard signs, door hangers, and Google reviews. Get the leads coming in first, then worry about how fast you answer them.

Need some help with implementation?

Phones that ring. Crews that stay booked. Lead flow you can count on, month after month.
